Where and how it all started
Visiting Hartbeespoort Dam one Sunday afternoon, I came accross a guy near "Jasmyn Farmers Market" sitting on a rubber-duck in the middle of nowhere. I started talking to him and learned he was a qualified river rafting specialist whom were struggling to find customers he could take out on the water or even teach them to become experts in the field.

Thus, the concept of Activityzone was born right there in 2008. I had this idea to make it easy for the public to find an adventure/activity in SA to enjoy, create memories and in some cases conquer fears. The idea was to act as an Affiliate for adventure businesses, therefore advertising there activities on my website, marketing the site effectively, generating large numbers of on-line customer traffic whom will navigate the site and find what they are looking for. I utilized SEO by giving your activities and adventures exposure on well-known search engines such as GOOGLE and YAHOO (applying multi-segment marketing strategies). The end-goal was for customers navigating my website (Activityzone) and book directly with the adventure companies. I would only charge a minimal annual fee for advertising.

So, how could I help?
Well, I set out to create a website that’s easy to use, navigate, read and most importantly will enable visitors to find their chosen activity or adventure within just a few clicks - the shortest route to action, no fuss, no hassle! Each Operator got a full-page ad of there adventure/s which included a short description of the adventure, photo, company logo, email, website address and full contact details.

The first website went live in August 2009. I researched and signed-up a number of active adventure providers in SA (yes, my first customer was the river rafting specialist) and also had numerous operators contacting me during the following months; signing up. No, it was not easy, as I was by myself juggling everything from concept, design and marketing. A few months down the line I employed a sales person whos primarily goal was to find adventure Operators (growing our business) while I designed and managed the site.

The now
During the years lot's changed and with technology and new media devices, I had to try and keep up with the new design trends in order to make our website customer friendly. Our new and improved website launched in 2018.
